Knowledge Translation

I developed knowledge translation strategies to find better ways to disseminate research findings and engage target audiences to optimize research impact. The term ‘knowledge translation’ originally comes from the health sciences field - doctors and health practitioners are encouraged to utilize plain language and other supplementary materials to help patients better understand what a new medical treatment or vaccine is all about, and ultimately to increase the uptake.

Similarly, in academic research - we see that a lot of great research findings and publications are not always in the most accessible format, and as a result, they do not always reach the audience who could potentially benefit from the research.

At BEAR, I looked for various methods to break down complex research knowledge into bite-sized content to make it more accessible and digestible to the readers/target audience. Some examples include interactive playbooks, one-page visual summaries, infographics, and whiteboard animation.
